J.D. & Kelly sent us this ‘selfie’ they took with the scary little people in the Livery Foyer. These ceramic faced ‘stuffed’ people stand guard at the stairs and cause a few double takes from guests who enter the building. A bit un-nerving for some as they stand at least 3 feet or more.
The Livery was constructed with 10 guest rooms in 2000. Broom Tree began at the Shack in 2002 but we were able to use the rooms in the main building. We soon graduated to the beautiful Livery rooms for our pastor guests. Then in 2014 the original Livery was re-named ‘Livery East’ and another 10 rooms added on the west end, ‘Livery West’.
The Shack Country Inn has been owned and operated by Marv & Janette Deur for the last 40 years. Postcards say,
“God Owns, Marv & Janette Manage”.
They have managed well and have gone from 6 guest rooms to 56 guest rooms, 4 outdoor pavilions, two large conference rooms and a small gathering room, a museum, enormous covered picnic area and prayer chapel.
