The following comments are from a pastor and professor at a Seminary. He and his wife attended a Broom Tree Retreat. When he came to the retreat he was taken aback as the Lord had a different agenda than he expected. He found a spot where he "met" the Lord each day in a profound way. We asked him if his experience had any residual effects on his life. Here is his answer.
My daily routine didn't include much, but it did include a walk on the "ledge" at the top of the hill overlooking the Lodge. The ledge became known as my "No Agenda Ledge" where God and I met in a very meaningful way. Why share all this? Simple: because my heart often returns to those moments and says, "Lee, you need to remember what you learned there." Or I may pray: "Lord, what do you want to do with me still?" I don't know how many times I have found myself returning to what I believe Jesus shared with me during our walks together: "I am the place where burdens are laid... Trust me. I will lead the way."

My listening to Joe Stowell's tape did not stop at the retreat either. In fact, just recently I found myself thinking: "You've got to get back and listen to that message again."
In short, my summer experience continues to drive me...
  • To the Lord -- to "connect" with Him at a deeper level.
  • To my calling -- to stay on track.
And, quite naturally, thinking of the retreat brings back wonderful memories and a deep appreciation for my wife. The word I love to use is "cherish." I cherish her. The entire "Broom Tree experience" could be termed as one of many building blocks we've experienced along the way to assist us in growing together in a marriage richly blessed by God.
My journey continues, folks. It continues. I thank you for the opportunity to come, relax, and connect with God, my wife, and my calling.
May the Lord richly bless you in the days to come,
Lee (John 15:16)
